A FAMILY HISTORY
Italdraghe was born under the name of OMIM (Officina Meccanica Industriale Marittima). It was only during the 60’s that OMIM would have changed its name and Italdraghe was definitely born. From the very early stages the company understood the importance and potential of oceans, seas, rivers, channels, and ports maintenance.
Today Italdraghe, besides its core business products, is involved in continuous research and development projects in order to develop new products aimed at satisfying customer needs. Additionally, Italdraghe is active in creating partnerships in order to strengthen its presence all over the world and enter new challenging projects with multiple purposes.
TIMELINE
Italdraghe was born as a family owned business under the name of OMIM (Officina Meccanica Industriale Marittima). At this time Italdraghe consisted of a small garage for naval engines construction and repairing.
Significant development which brought to the creation of its own foundry in order to internalize the production and to increase control over the quality of materials and products.
The first dredgers and steel fishing vessels were built. OMIM changes name and Italdraghe was definitely born.
Italdraghe starts its first ever diversification in order to satisfy the increasing demand of new products. Beside the dredging sector, Italdraghe starts producing fishing equipment such as fish suction pumps, winches, screeners for clams fishing .
Italdraghe starts focusing also on the dredging industry – cutter suction dredgers, special purpose dredgers, harvesters and special machines – which later became its core business.
Italdraghe starts its international expansion. The company started selling both dredgers and dredging equipment all over the world arriving to a global presence which consists of more than 30 countries' coverage.
Italdraghe is involved in continuous research and development projects in order to develop new cutting-edge solutions. For instance, in the last few years Italdraghe has specialized in eco-friendly cleaning solutions to cope with problems caused by aquatic weed (hyacinths) and rubbish.
